Starting February 2014, the 801201 amplifier – which is included in the popular 801212 Mobile Wireless kit – was updated and started being fitted with the smaller SMA-Female connector, rather than the FME-Male connector this amp has sported for several years. There is no significant difference in the way your amplifier will perform with either of these types of connectors.
Unfortunately there is no specific identifier on the boxes, or embedded within the serial numbers, to help determine which version of the 801201 you may have. So before you order a replacement or upgraded antenna for your kit, look at the connectors on your amplifier to see whether you have the SMA or FME version.
If you have the SMA version, the direct replacement for the antennas that shipped with the 801212 kit are as follows:
You can also purchase any of the FME antennas we carry, including the glass-mounts, NMO (non magnetic option), Trucker/RV, Marine, etc., and add the WA971119 connector to use it with your system.
If you have the FME version, the direct replacement for the antennas that shipped with the 801212 kit are as follows:
- Inside ‘hershey-bar shaped’ antenna: WA301127 (now discontinued). Instead, you can use the WA301152-B.
- Outside 12” magnet-mount antenna: WA301103.
You can of course use any of the large range of outside antennas we carry, including glass-mounts, NMO (non magnetic option), Trucker/RV, Marine, etc. These currently all ship with FME connectors.
If you purchase an antenna with an SMA connector, you will need the WA971136 connector to use it with your system.
