weBoost: Getting Better Cell Signal When Nothing Else Is Working

on February 25, 2016

weBoost is a premium brand of cell phone signal boosters by Wilson Electronics. Cell phone boosters are electronic devices that pull in weak 3G & 4G LTE signals, amplify it multiple times (up to 32X), and then send the boosted signal to your home or car.

Nearly 90% of Americans own a cell phone. 68% of them are smartphones. And about 15% of Americans ONLY use their cell phones to connect to the internet.

Smartphone Ownership is Often Most Tenuous for Those Who Rely on Their Devices the Most

With the increasing speeds of 4G LTE and the arrival of 5G that promises to be 10 to 100 times faster, the jump to cell phone-only has increased as customers don’t like to double-dip with paying bills to broadband landline internet (like AT&T Uverse or Comcast) and also monthly cell phone bills, especially when unlimited 4G LTE plans cover their needs.

But There's The Problem We’re Still Dealing With

Unfortunately, we’ve all had these problems with our cell phones before:

  • Dropped calls
  • Poor voice
  • Slow internet
  • Stuck text messages
  • Spotty coverage
  • Low cell phone bars

These are symptoms of poor cell phone signals. And they are absolutely frustrating when trying to go about your daily life. Forget about the lost of convenience, business, or response to an emergency, it’s about the interruptions.

Routines should flow. However, stuff happens. We’re adults, we understand. But when one constant interruption piles on top of another multiplied by our daily routine, what begins with annoyance eventually snowballs into distraction and endless frustration.

In today’s digital world, a little a peace of mind and flow is what we need like a good morning cup of coffee or tea and a nice quiet evening with a book or favorite TV show.

So What’s Causing All These Problems

Well, despite the complaints, not all blame is to be placed on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, or Sprint. There are certain conditions that are out of their control; however with a cell phone signal booster you CAN control some conditions, but more on that later.

Distance from the Cell Tower

This is mostly a problem for users in the country side in remote or rural areas. Being far from the cell phone tower means the signal isn’t able to reach your cellular device.

Interference

For rural folks, this is trees, hills, and mountains. For city folks, it’s tall structures, buildings, and other urbanized surroundings. Cell phone signal are basically radio waves (the AM/FM kind). They’re wonderful at covering long distances. Terrible at integrity when passing through and bouncing off objects between the cell tower and your phone.

Building Material

Metal. Glass. Concrete Thick walls & insulation. Energy-efficient material. You name it and can interference with cell signals. So even if you’re live right near a carrier tower, if you have obstructing building material, it won’t get to your phone.

Weather

Yes, even a rainy day, snowstorm, and lightning storm can disrupt your signal.

Other People

Cell towers can support hundreds of users. However, get them all calling or using their phones at once and now it’s looking like a scene from a National Geographic film on droughts: a fight where all the animals are battling for a sip of water.

So it only takes ONE of those problems to affect your cell phone. And if you COMBINE any of them?

Endless, endless frustration.

How a weBoost Cell Phone Signal Booster Can Solve Everything

First, let’s answer some questions. Why get a cell phone signal booster? Why weBoost?

A cell phone booster does 3 thing with 3 simple parts:

  • The outside antenna pulls in the weak 3G & 4G signal. Depending on your model, it’s quite powerful enough to reach several thousand ft to search for existing cell signal.
  • The amplifier takes the signal then boosts the signal up to 32X.
  • The inside antenna sends the enhanced signal to area in need inside your home or car.

They effectively provide the following:

  • Crystal-clear calls
  • Constant connection
  • Fast internet
  • Quickly deliver and receive text messages
  • Wider coverage
  • More bars

Okay, so why weBoost? That’s easy.

weBoost is the leading cell phone signal booster brand across the globe. 2-year warranty. Free shipping. Award-winning products. A legacy brand name backed by Wilson Electronics.

Most importantly, designed AND made in the USA. This ensures for the highest quality in engineering, design, and customer service.

But will this work for me?

All weBoost signal boosters work for all carriers on all cell devices. Yes, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and others. Yes, all cell phones, smartphones, iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, iPads, tablets, etc.

They’re all backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty. Anything happens. They’ll take care of it.

BUT...

For a cell phone signal booster to work the way you expect it to, it depends on one thing: your current outside signal. A cell phone booster can improve signal, but it cannot create what isn’t there. It’ll heal the injured but not raise the dead.

So the most important thing that you have to do before investing in a signal booster is finding out your signal strength. Here’s what you need to know and how to do it.

Finding Your Signal Strength

The number of cell phone bars on your phone? They’re not scientific. In fact, they’re subjective.

There’s no industry standard on cell phone bars. So, for example, what’s 1 bar on Sprint could be 2 bars on T-Mobile could be 3 bars on US Cellular DESPITE having the exact same signal and the exact same speeds.

It’s left in the hands of your carrier to judge what’s low bars and full bars.

Uh, no, we’re not going to play that game. The most accurate and technical way is to look at decibel (dB) reading. Cell phone signals operate at a dB frequency of -50 dB to -110 dB. -50 dB is great signal, full bars. -110 dB is virtually no signal, a dead zone. And everything else in between ranges from having good to average to poor signal.

This dB frequency is true for all cell phones and all carriers. Once you understand your dB reading, then you'll understand just exactly how strong your signal is.

Here’s how to find your dB Signal ( Taken from The Definitive Booster Guide)

For iPhone Users

  1. Go into Phone Mode

  2. Dial and Call *3001#12345#*

  3. You'll enter Field Test Mode

  4. Drag down your notifications bar and you will see your dB reading in the left-hand corner.

  2. Then General

  3. Go to About Phone

  4. Network or Status

  5. You should see your dB Value

For other phones email us at sales@wilsonamplifiers.com. We’ll see how we can help find your dB reading.

Ok, so once you have a dB reading, then you’ll know if a cell phone booster will help you. Anything between -50 dB to -90 dB, a signal booster will give you great results. - 91 dB to -100 dB, and you’ll get good to ok results. -101 dB to -110 dB, mediocre to no boost.

In other words, if you’re living in a fringe area with barely any signal, you might have to get the most powerful booster to get the best results. Just think of signal boosters like a megaphone. A boosted whisper is better than a whisper but not better than a boosted shout.

Other Things You Need to Know

All the weBoost models where are divided into two categories: for home (and mid-sized buildings) or for cars (and other vehicles).

For the signal boosters for home, we rank by square foot coverage: good (1-2 rooms), better (home), and best (large home or small building).

For signal boosters for cars, we rank by user: good (single user), better (multi-user or multiple cell phones, best (pro user), and specialties (RV and boat users).

Each cell phone signal booster comes in either a 3G or 4G version. 3G covers talk, text, and basic 3G internet. 4G covers talk, text, all 3G, and high-speed 4G LTE internet. If you just need to boost talk & text, go with a 3G booster. If you surf the internet, stream, download, and use other data-heavy apps, then future-proof with a 4G booster.
