The Wilson 971115 Crimp Connector is designed for making RG58 cable with FME-Male connector and it features a negligible loss of 0.1 dB.
CONNECTOR | FME-Male |
1: Stripping the Cable
Using wire cutters, cut off the end of the cable. Using wire strippers, remove about 1/2 inch of the cable’s cover to expose the bare copper center. Using your fingers, expose about 1/8 inch of braid and foil by pulling off a small piece of the outer jacket.
2: Preparing the Wire
Slip the crimp ring over the end of the cable. Use your fingers to bend all of the braid back along the outside of the cable as evenly as possible.
3: Attaching the Connector
Push the stripped cable end into the connector so that the connector tube goes between the foil and outer housing of the cable. Push the end until the insulator is flush with the bottom of the connector. Slide the crimp ring over the bottom of the connector.
4: Crimping the Connector
Crimp the connector ring tightly around the end of the connector using a crimping tool.
5: Completing the Task
Trim the loose wires and cut the copper core wire flush with the connector end. Check connector attachment firmness by pulling on the connector and cable. Repeat the process for other cable ends needing connectors.
